Gameplay programmer. Unreal, C++, and usually the build server too.
I am Carl Uvebrant. I studied Game Programming for two years at The Game Assembly, finishing with a 30-week internship at EODynamics. I now write gameplay C++ at Delta Game Studios.
Before that I spent ten years as an IT network technician and integrator, and taught myself Unreal in my own time -- two years in UE4, then a year in UE5. The infrastructure half of that job never left me: I am usually the one who ends up standing up Perforce and the build server.
I have worked in Unity, in Unreal, and in two in-house C++ engines. We started on C# for the first two months and then moved to C++, which is where I have stayed. Across the programme that came to eight game projects, in teams that reached thirty-odd people at their largest.
I like working in a group and I speak up in meetings. The part I am actually useful for is planning: breaking work into pieces small enough that the estimate means something, and saying early when a feature will not fit rather than in the last week of the project.
